This week brought extra celebration as one of our recent Introduction to Auto Locksmithing students returned to collect their official IMI Accreditation certificate from our lead trainer, Ashley Brucki; a moment that marks not just completion, but accomplishment. Picking up that certificate is a proud milestone; it represents eighty hours of intensive, hands-on effort and is the official "green light" to an exciting, successful career in the automotive trade, a true cause for celebration.
The Journey: Two Weeks to a New Trade
Our introductory course is designed to take individuals, often with no prior experience and equip them with the technical foundation to run a mobile locksmith business or join an established firm. The syllabus is split into two distinct, high-intensity phases:
- The Mechanical Foundations: Week one focuses on the "art" of the trade. Students learn non-destructive entry (NDE) techniques, the mechanics of different lock types, and the precision required for high-security key cutting.
- The Digital Edge: Week two moves into the modern era. We cover transponder technology and OBD programming. Using the latest diagnostic tools, students practice on real vehicles in a controlled environment, ensuring they are ready for the "real world" the moment they leave us.
Why IMI Accreditation Matters
