3D Group Confirms Arrival of KeyDiy #13 Board (DIYH7) & EoneBoss NK001: The New Era of Smart Key Cloning.
We can now confirm that the "Self-Programming Key" teased in our recent April Fools' post is closer to reality than many anticipated. KeyDiy (KD) is set to launch new software in April, and newcomers EoneBoss, off the back of their successful launch of Toyota unlock tools, are releasing the NK001 (Key Copy Sprite), a tool specifically designed to redefine NXP-based smart key cloning.
The NK001 is touted as the "Ultimate Sprite" for NXP keys, promising a simplified cloning process. While official technical documentation is still pending, industry intelligence suggests this tool may remove the requirement for soldering via the use of specific clamps.
A Shift in Methodology
Traditionally, NXP smart key cloning has been a laborious process, often requiring the key to be dismantled and the processor removed to clone the data.
Whilst KD will still require this process on initial release, the technology is already evolving, as seen with The NK001 already beginning to eliminate this.
"This is a massive leap forward in convenience, but it brings us into uncharted territory regarding security," says Elspeth, Marketing Manager at 3D Group. "If cloning an NXP smart key becomes as simple as a wireless 'sniff' and a button press, the industry needs to have a serious conversation about the risks and the potential for these tools to be misused."
